Words by Nirmal Sidhu himself : I was born in village Tehna, District Faridcot and I also grew up there. I belong to a middle class Jatt family with strict up bringing. I used to live near Gurdwara and I got inspired by listening to Kirtan/Gurbani. Since childhood I was interested in music. At the age of 12 Master Naginder Singh Chahal inspired me to learn more music and educate myself. Finally I finished Masters in Music. In 1987, my first song was broadcasted on Doordarshan, Jallandhar. That song enabled me to establish myself in the field off commercial music.
